The Sherry Institute of Spain hosted The Great Sherry Tasting on Monday 17 September, a trade and press tasting designed to showcase the largest collection of sherries in the UK. The event marked the first visit to the UK of the newly-elected president of the Consejo Regulador, Beltran Domecq.
"There is a great deal of support for Sherry throughout the UK wine trade and we want to continue some of the great work being achieved by showcasing the diversity of our wonderful wines from Jerez," commented Beltran Domecq, president of the Consejo Regulador.
On Monday 17 September, the Sherry Institute of Spain hosted the largest ever tasting of Sherries available in the UK today. Over 20 producers presented with more than 100 sherries from all the UK's leading importers. From Fino to PX, The Great Sherry Tasting offered visitors the widest range of sherries... ever.
Event organiser, Graham Hines, UK director of The Sherry Institute of Spain, explains: "This was an exciting opportunity for visitors to taste the most comprehensive range of Sherries I've ever known, and it comes at a time when Sherry is gaining a great deal of attention from the trade, press and consumers alike." He continues, "We are delighted to have received such a positive response from the trade and we hope the event signals a real celebration of things to come."
The tasting was open to all trade and press, and will focus on the different styles of sherry, including rare and aged wines with a special selection of En Rama styles also being shown.
